How to arrive to Drake Bay

Aerobell and Flysansa airlines offer direct flights to Drake Bay from San José.
Car or Bus + Boat
Boats to Drake Bay leave from Sierpe, so your first mission will be to get to Sierpe by car or bus.
If you travel by bus, the Tracopa company is the best option from San José. The bus will take you to Palmar Norte, from where you will have to take another bus that will take you directly to Sierpe.
In the case of going to Sierpe by car, you must park it in one of the car parks set up for it. We recommend you park your car in the Don Jorge restaurant car park or in the Las Vegas restaurant car park.
The last step will be to buy the tickets for the boat that will take you to Drake Bay. The boats leave from the Don Jorge restaurant every day at 11:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., and it is not necessary to book the ticket in advance.
The return trip by boat from Drake Bay to Sierpe, you can do it at 07:15 or at 14:30.

Car
Traveling to Drake Bay by car is possible.
Recently, the road to Drake Bay has been repaired and it is now possible to get there by car both in the dry season and in the rainy season. They have built bridges in all the rivers that you can find along the way so that you can pass them without any difficulty.
It is advisable to make this journey with a 4×4 car or in a high car because the road is dirt.
About 15 minutes before your arrival to Drake Bay, you will find a sign with a turtle that says “to Drake over the bridge.” You have to turn left and take that route to find the bridge. No GPS usually indicates this road!
